Hot Stuff Surfboards

The creation of HOT STUFF SURFBOARDS in 1975 , when Paul Hallas started a contract fibreglassing business, which grew to a fully blown successful surfboard manufacturing Company.
Paul’s skill and reputation drew to him the likes of “RABBIT” Wayne Bartholomew 1978 World Champion, 2 times world masters Champion plus 10 conscecutive years in the top 5 of World Champions - LEGEND! Also current President of the ASP world tour (Association of Surfing Professional) , and last of all 30years Surfing Test Pilot for Hot Stuff.  Hot Stuff Surfboards began at Currumbin and the original crew included Gill Glover in the Shaping Bay and John Allen in the glassing room. It wasn’t long before Hot Stuff had attracted a world class team. Ten times NZ champion Al Byrne had settled on the Goldie after a couple of fabulous 70’s Hawaiian campaigns. “AB” joined Gill Glover as shaper/surfers; Bugs rode Hot Stuff to victory around the world. Local hottie’s Darryl Parkinson (Joel Parkinson’s Uncle) and Peter Lawrence signed up, giving Hot Stuff a formidable line-up.
The 80’s saw Hot Stuff go from strength to strength - well to tell the truth pretty much the leaders in surfboards! Gary “Kong” Elkerton signed up in ‘81 and by ‘82 he had joined Rabbit and AB at the west peak at Sunset. Derrick Doerner became the Hawaiian connection, building special rack’s that kept “AB”s classic bottom curves proportionately stable between Hawaiian seasons. The 80’s were fun days around the Hot Stuff factory , with all the lads up for a beer and weekly catch up with the likes of Kong, Rabbit, Deep (Parko), “AB”, Robbie Cohen all the team riders.

Attention: With many surfboards from the 60s to 80s selling for $500 - $10,000 or more.  Vintage surfboards are a great investment.  Being 2015, anything 25 years or older is now an antique. Boards older than 1983 are skyrocketing in value.  Do you know what’s happening? 80's boards are now collector’s items, not just used boards for sale.
