Lightning Bolt Surfboards

___________________________________________________________________________

Description:

Vintage, 1981-82 Lightning Bolt Surfboard. Orange Star Twin Fins.  Both fins are rock solid and in sturdy condition. The airbrush and deck bolt designs make this super collectable.  A Lightning Bolt twin-fin is very rare to find (when’s the last time you saw or found a twin-fin Lightning Bolt surfboard?).  The board is completely watertight.  A faint hint of sun tanning is visible.  Other than the minor sun tanning, the board is void of the following issues: no de lamination, no soft spots, never a major repair, completely watertight, no water marks, never buckled, and no twisting.  You will not be disappointed with this board in your collection.  It has a nice shape and color scheme for displaying.
SPECIFICATIONS: 5’-7” x 21” x 2-1/2”

Description:

Vintage, 1980s era Lightning Bolt Surfboard shaped by Tom Eberly.  The board’s tail section is a double-bump, swallow tail with glassed-on twin-fins, and a removable third center-fin (see photos).  This type of fin system allows the surfer to choose the fin set-up best suited for the conditions.  The bump-wings are located 12 inches and 6 inches up from the tail, and the swallow-tail tips are 5 inches apart.  The glass-on fins stand 4-1/2 inches tall and 5-1/2 inches across at the base.  The fins are in great condition.  The board is filled with a lot of pastel colors (pink, and blue).  The deck of the board has one (1) small Lightning Bolt sticker, (2) Quicksilver stickers and two (2) Rip Curl stickers.  The bottom of the board has one (1) Quicksilver sticker, two (2) Rip Curl stickers, and one (1) small Lightning Bolt sticker.   All other Lightning Bolt markings are laminates that are located under the glassing (all original).    A Clark Foam lam and Tom Eberly laminate are located on the deck, at the tail (see photos).  The board is numbered on the deck, near the tail, “4645.”  This board has a few open dings and shatters.  The work is very minor (easy fix).  The board is void of the following issues: no de lamination, no soft spots, never a major repair, no major sun tanning, no water marks, never buckled, and no twisting.  This is an attractive board that has the color and shape for your collection.  Or it can be surfed like it was intended.

SPECIFICATIONS: glass-on twin-fin/with a boxed removable center fin; 6’-4” x 20-1/2” x 2-3/4”

Description:

Vintage, 1980s era Lightning Bolt Surfboard.  The board’s tail section is a double-bump wing, swallow-tail with glassed-on quad-fins (see photos).  The wings are located 12 inches and 4 inches up from the tail, and the swallow-tail tips are 5 inches apart.  The glass-on fins are translucent burgundy.  All four fins are rock solid and in sturdy condition.  Two of the fins have a minor stress mark at the base, but are solid and sturdy (it’s not cracked, just a stress mark).  The deck and bottom is filled with a geometrical pattern (see photos).  The patterns are airbrushed in pink and blue, and then outlined in black resin pin-lines (see photos).  On each side of the board is a 16 inch lightning bolt located at the nose.  On each side of the board has two large Lightning Bolt laminates on the rails (see photos).  The Lightning Bolt laminates on the rails measure 11 inches long.  A white Clark Foam laminate is located on the deck, on the tail.  The Clark Foam laminate reads, “High Performance Clark Foam Super Light.”   The board is numbered on the deck, near the tail, “4658.”   Overall, this board is in magnificent shape.  A Lightning Bolt quad-fin is very rare to find (when’s the last time you saw or found a quad-fin Lightning Bolt surfboard?).  The colors are bright and beautiful.  A lot of time, energy, and concentration were spent on the board’s details (taping, spraying and the pin-lines).  The board is completely watertight.  A very faint hint of sun tanning is visible.  Other than the minor sun tanning, the board is void of the following issues: no de lamination, no soft spots, never a major repair, completely watertight, no major sun tanning, no water marks, never buckled, and no twisting.  Again, this is a beautiful Lightning Bolt quad-fin surfboard that is attractive in every sense of the word (shape, condition, color and style).  You will not be disappointed with this board in your collection.  It has a nice shape and color scheme for displaying.
SPECIFICATIONS: glass-on quad-fin/double-bump wing, swallow-tail; 5’-9” x 20-1/4” x 2-3/4”

Attention: With many surfboards from the 60s to 80s selling for $500 - $10,000 or more.  Vintage surfboards are a great investment.  Being 2010, anything 25 years or older is now an antique. Boards older than 1983 are skyrocketing in value.  Do you know what’s happening? 80's boards are now collector’s items, not just used boards for sale.
